ACOR’s multidiscipline team were responsible for the provision of Civil, Structural, Hydraulic, Fire, Electrical and ESD engineering consultancy services on this high profile 88 dwelling, public housing redevelopment project. It was Australia’s first social housing project to be awarded a 5 Star Green Star rating under the Green Building Council of Australia’s, Multi Unit Residential Pilot tool and represented “Australian Excellence” in environmentally sustainable design.
The redevelopment incorporates passive sustainable design elements which are durable and require low maintenance. Selected active systems are employed to reduce energy and water consumption, including solar hot water, PV panels for common areas power and rainwater harvesting. The resulting community development provides sustainable, low cost housing in a safe living environment, with low ongoing resource consumption.
