Ferry Wharves Upgrade Program – NSW

Project Overview

The Transport Access Program (TAP) is an initiative of Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) to provide a better experience for public transport customers by delivering accessible, modern, secure and integrated transport infrastructure. ACOR was engaged to provide the Civil Landslide Detail design and documentation services for the 26 proposed wharves in this $70m project. Our scope of consultancy included roadworks, guttering, stairs, lifts, pavements – all designed to enhance safety and the customer experience.

Our Approach

ACOR were engaged to provide the Civil Landslide Detail Design and documentation services for the proposed 26 wharves in the Ferry Wharves Upgrade Program Package 2.

Our scope of consultancy included:

  • Roadworks including widening
  • New kerb and guttering
  • Landside stair access
  • Lift structure design
  • Stormwater derivation as shown on the Concepts Designs
  • Pavement design to incorporate DDA and DAPTS requirements
  • Landside handrails (details and extents)
  • Road marking as required to meet the scope of works

Our Impact

The 26 ferry wharves were designed to enhance the customer experience through ease of modal interchange. ACOR helped to provide:

  • Facilities that were accessible to the disabled, ageing and parents with prams
  • Modern buildings and facilities for all modes that met the needs of the growing population
  • Modern interchanges that supported an integrated network and allowed seamless transfers between all modes for all customers
  • Safety improvements including extra lighting, help points, fences and security measures for car parks and interchanges, including stations, bus stops and wharves
  • Signage improvements so customers could more easily use public transport and transfer between modes at interchanges
  • Other improvements and maintenance suck as painting new fencing and roof replacements
