Construction is set to commence at Iona College multi-purpose hall, the first project to be implemented following the adoption of the campus transformation plan. The space will be utilised for a wide range of community and sporting events and will become the gateway building for the south end of the campus linking into local public transport nodes.
The distinctive glazed façade is framed by a concrete cantilever, reinforced by 2m deep Trusses that span 40m to support the building envelope. Sprung timber flooring will ensure a high-performance surface and tiered retractable seating will allow the space to be reconfigured for different uses.
ACOR has been appointed to undertake Civil and Structural Engineering for the project including site-wide infrastructure works for Civil and Hydraulic services.
