The first stage of development at Edgarley Assisted Living, Casterton is underway with new kitchen, administration facilities and 30 new beds taking shape over recent weeks. The new home is being delivered on a design and construct basis, in collaboration with lead contractor Fairbrother and Baade Harbour Architects.
Edgarley Assisted Living Chair, Alan Elijah said, “This is a really exciting time for us all, these new facilities will take life at Edgarley to a new level for both residents and staff alike.”
The new development will expand capacity whilst refurbishing the facilities with modern interiors and services including an extensive outdoor deck that will rejuvenate and revitalise the living environment.
ACOR Consultants is delivering multi-disciplinary engineering for the project including civil, structural and building services. Project Leader Tom Christie recently demonstrated a virtual walk-through of the new development as part of the community engagement process, showing the configuration of rooms and connectivity around the building. This process adds value by providing a fully rendered sample room for the residents to view in Virtual Reality.
The design and documentation process followed takes advantage of the multidisciplinary nature of the project with the use of BIM 360 for file sharing, allowing for a coordinated federated model managed by ACOR’s BIM coordinator.
The new home is scheduled for completion in July 2021.
