Position: Acoustic Consultant

We are seeking an experienced Acoustics Consultant to join our growing team in Canberra. This position is responsible for acoustic designs and assisting the acoustics team to document those designs. Working closely with other disciplines and the various services teams, you will coordinate multi-disciplined projects.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking acoustic and vibration assessments as required, including environmental noise, occupational noise, industrial noise and vibration, road traffic noise and vibration, rail noise and vibration and building acoustics
  • Developing acoustical design projects (or components of projects), design basis, scopes of work, etc.
  • Following senior staff’s instructions with managing acoustical design and documentation
  • Taking responsibility for the internal management of the delivery and planning for allocated projects
  • Understanding, identifying and proactively managing project risks
  • Attending and, where directed, leading ACOR acoustic representation in project design meetings with Client teams


Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with a focus on acoustics
  • A minimum of 2 years acoustic consulting experience across a range of sectors, including roads, rail, aircraft, industrial buildings, environmental and occupational noise
  • Competent in environmental noise modelling packages (e.g. SoundPLAN)
  • An understanding of building acoustics design and modelling, including the use of EASE software or the like is preferred
  • Competent in the use of sound level meters and noise and vibration logging equipment
