As an Acoustic Designer, you will support the success of ACOR, both locally and on a national level.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate Acoustic consulting experience across a range of sectors, including roads, rail, aircraft, industrial buildings, environmental and occupational noise. The primary specialisation in the Canberra region is design and assessment of buildings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Undertake acoustic & vibration assessments – including but not limited to environmental/industrial/occupational noise, road traffic/rail noise and acoustic vibrations
  • Developing acoustical design projects (or components of projects), design basis, scopes of work, etc.
  • Attending and, where directed, leading ACOR acoustic representation in project design meetings with client teams
  • Participating in design and safety reviews and risk assessments
  • Taking responsibility for the internal management of the delivery and planning for allocated projects, proactively managing project risks

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications, ideally with a focus on acoustics
  • Member of the Australia Acoustical Society is desirable but not essential
  • Acoustic consulting experience across a range of sectors
  • Understanding of standards and legislation required to undertake acoustic assessments
  • Demonstrable understanding of the acoustics discipline, including detailed knowledge of environmental noise assessment and reporting requirements and legislation
  • Sound knowledge of industrial noise and vibration assessment and building acoustics is essential
  • Understanding of project management processes and delivery with a good mix of technical and client management skills
  • High level of organisational skills
