Costco Wholesale is a multi-billion dollar global retailer with warehouse club operations in eleven countries. Since launching in Australia in 2010 ACOR has assisted the chain deliver stores and distribution warehouses in over 10 locations and continue to be involved in the roll out of operations across Australia.
The companies business model leans more towards an industrial warehouse typology than a traditional retail environment and the design reflects this. The warehouse interiors present concrete floors, exposed light fittings and stacked pallets of merchandise that can be easily loaded, unloaded or relocated. Roofs typically comprise a white steel frame punctuated by industrial skylights. The steel frames are sourced from BlueScop an international supplier who we coordinate with to verify the design and ensure compliance with local building codes.
Costco centres typically operate on floorplates three times the size of a normal supermarket. Increasingly the business is incorporating more bespoke facilities such as optical centres, tyre centres, petrol stations and typically contain car spaces (800).
Some of our more recent projects include:
Each warehouse typically contains 800 car spaces, commercial vehicle loading and fuel station.
