The Lane Cove Aquatic Centre upgrade is a key community project for Lane Cove Council that will provide vital new amenities for local schools and the wider community.  The NSW Structural team provided Structural engineering services for the new 50m pool concourse, Grandstand and Youth club facilities.

ACOR Consultants was involved in the structural design of the new facilities from project inception, working with Team 2 Architects to develop the concept options and cost plan.  ACOR then worked alongside the pool contractor Crystal Pools and builder Icon Co on finalising the design.

Meticulous coordination was required with the Council, pool contractor and grandstand design team. Constructability within the confines of a compact site was a key consideration in the design, minimising disruption to Centre operations so that the remaining facilities could stay open to the public.  A structural steel roof has been specially designed to remove view obstructions from the grandstand.

Environmentally and sustainable design initiatives were also a key consideration, working within the Councils sustainable guiding principles of community, creativity and sustainability.
