The new Mordialloc Life Saving Club was designed to support the development of best practice life saving skills, training and education. The new building includes an observation tower, function/training room, large change-rooms and storage areas together with an Indigenous Gathering Place as a place of welcome for the local Aboriginal community. Due to the sandy geotechnical conditions of the site, it has been constructed as a suspended concrete slab cast on ground and supported on piles. Precast concrete wall panels are used as load bearing elements to the ground floor supporting the first floor slab structure and structural steel roof framing. Constructed adjacent to the existing facility the $4 million upgrade opened in 2017 and has since seen a significant increase in its membership.
