Prince Alfred Park Pool was part of the City of Sydney Council’s “Green Transformer” Scheme where projects were encouraged to reduce their reliance on mains energy and water.

ACOR consultancy services consisted of ESD, Structural, Hydraulics and Civil pool services.

ACOR carried out an in-depth energy study and business case modelling for the building, the park precinct and the pool plant.

After assessing energy supply options, we designed a pool system which achieved approximately 50% CO reduction over traditional systems.

The pool was constructed from 80% recycled material which is fully recyclable at the end of the facility’s life.

The engineering design minimised platroom space and makes provisions to future proof the facility with allowances made to retrofit energy-saving power and heat generation systems if required.

The redevelopment of the pool involved an upgrade of the existing swimming pool to a modern aquatic facility including a 50m pool, a separate toddler splash deck and a public use café, pool management and patron amenities.
