The new St George Private Hospital Specialist Suites deliver 2,000 sqm of purpose-built facilities, housing a range of medical consultants including Orthopaedics, Neurologists and Bariatrics.

ACOR Consultants provided full services for Structural and Civil Engineering, including all design and documentation in a BIM environment.  Coordination of the 3D building model allowed for a significant reduction in onsite clashes as well as providing volume and quantity checks of building materials where required.

Located within the St George Private Hospital precinct in Kogarah, the project consisted of medical imaging at street level and 7 stories of specialist consultant suites above.  To enable connectivity between the existing hospital and new development a suspended steel link bridge was designed to span over South St and back onto the existing structure of the primary hospital.

Construction of the new 75 metre bridge took 36 consecutive hours, using 45 tonnes of steel.  Due to the physical restrictions of the site, ACOR worked hand in hand with the builder to ensure that the design methodology matched that of the construction methodology. Thus, ensuring that the most economical delivery of the project was presented.
