RAAF Base Tindal is located 320 kms south-east of Darwin and 15 kms outside neighbouring Katherine. The base is very much part of the Katherine community with RAAF personnel and families making up almost 25% of Katherine’s population of 10,000 people. The Base’s contribution to the local community includes allowing public access to the pool for events. The base is one of Australia’s most important defence sites with over $1 billion of upgrade works due to be delivered over the next 10 years.
