The Devils Pulpit to Broadwater section of the $4.9 billion Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade is approaching completion. ACOR Consultants was invited to partner with CPB Contractors and RMS to deliver temporary road design for the 34 km section that links the towns of New Italy, Woodburn and Broadwater.
Approximately 10,000 vehicles travel between Devils Pulpit and Broadwater each day including 3,500 heavy vehicles. The new highway will improve safety and freight efficiency and deliver vastly improved road infrastructure for connecting townships and communities. ACOR Consultants undertook civil engineering works including concept and detailed design of temporary roads, Road Safety Audits, traffic management and ancillary works.
Working hand in glove with CPB’s construction and traffic management team, ACOR Consultants was able to maintain an agile service, optimising the staging and geometry of the proposed works whilst maintaining strict adherence to operational and safety standards. Rapid response to Contractor requests for information and the timely submission of accurate documentation was critical in order to meet milestones throughout the program, as was the provision of responsive design solutions to the evolving construction staging plan.
