Our latest augmented reality exercise was a great way of demonstrating the services layout with the client whilst providing a more interactive user experience. The team is currently undertaking hydraulic and fire services design on the conversion/refurbishment of an existing office building to a new five-star hotel. Using Revit to model the services, we are able to locate, overlay and visualise this in real-time on-site using the AR application, VisualLive.

The Kingsley Hotel will be Newcastles first five-star hotel, set to transform the cities civic precinct. The refurbishment and upgrade works, led by EJE Architecture contain 136 rooms, a rooftop restaurant, cafe with outdoor terrace, swimming pool and a gymnasium.

The council approved the $24 million redevelopment in August 2019. New owners, Crystalbrook Collection expect the Kingsley to be operating early in 2021. The name Kingsley follows a naming convention by which Crystalbrook gives each of its hotels a gender-neutral name and its own unique aesthetic.
