Australian Electoral Commission Program: National

Project Overview

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) plays a critical role in managing federal elections and referendums across Australia. To support vote collation and processing, the AEC leases properties known as Outsourced Processing Centres (OPCs).

Since 2021, ACOR has provided technical due diligence and building services assessments for over 150 OPCs nationwide, supporting major events including the 2022 Federal Election, the 2023 Voice to Parliament Referendum and preparations for the 2025 Federal Election.

Our Approach

ACOR applied a strategic, risk-focused approach to support the AEC’s short-term property procurement and operational readiness.

  • Comprehensive Site Assessments: evaluated power, water, air conditioning and compliance to guide lease negotiations.
  • Risk Assessment and Decision Support: delivered detailed site evaluations to help the AEC make informed property decisions and reduce operational risks.
  • Collaborative Delivery: worked closely with sub-consultants and the AEC to maintain compliance and operational readiness within strict timeframes.

Our Impact

ACOR’s national reach, scalable delivery model and centralised PMO allowed the AEC to meet election deadlines with confidence.

  • Nationwide Coverage: conducted technical due diligence across all states and territories.
  • Speed and efficiency: delivered consistent site assessments, supporting the AEC’s tight election deadlines.
  • Operational Readiness: provided critical risk assessments to keep election logistics running smoothly.
