Junelle started at ACOR in 2018 in our Energy team and is currently our Senior Project Engineer for Energy.
Growing up in the Philippines, Junelle aspired to be like her grandfather who was a plant manager at Coca-Cola. She undertook a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and followed in his footsteps, working at the company for a year but found the work was repetitive and didn’t apply her expertise in a way she felt was fulfilling.
Junelle changed jobs from Coca-Cola to work for Fluor Corporation in Manilla, where she stayed until she moved to Australia in 2013. A big change, Junelle worked as an applications engineer in Sydney but found herself with the same problem as before – she didn’t feel like she was applying what she learned through her studies in her everyday work. Here, she took a few courses on Engineering (MEng, Renewable Energy Engineering) at UNSW in 2018 and soon after joined ACOR as a Project Engineer.
Through working at ACOR, Junelle has had an expansive number of opportunities that her previous workplaces didn’t offer. She has travelled around Australia, worked in different industries, and is currently undertaking work on an iconic project – the Western Sydney Airport.
In the four years she has been with us, ACOR has pushed Junelle out of her comfort zone, giving her the space to learn and grow with the business. She has progressed to become a Senior Project Engineer for Energy, is currently undertaking her Chartered credential and recently acquired her RPEQ.
Junelle values the flexibility and support ACOR provides its people, and the national footprint that allows her team to work together, wherever they may reside.
Junelle visits her family in the Philippines every Christmas, and whilst her grandfather no longer works there, her uncle still upholds the family tradition of working at Coca Cola. She’s found a new hobby in Pilates classes post-lockdown and enjoys playing Tennis and socialising with friends in her spare time.
