Risto is a member of our Canberra Team and is both a Senior Mechanical Engineer and Associate of ACOR.

Growing up with a mechanical engineer as a father fostered Risto’s knack for engineering and hands-on approach to work. He naturally had an engineering mind and studied in the industry from high school through to university.

He gained work experience with Rudds, who later merged with ACOR, and was given a graduate contract a few days after he officially graduated from university. Uncertain of where he sat within the industry, his early career saw him drafting more than engineering before he focused on mechanical and became a senior engineer.

Rudds and ACOR joined forces, and Risto’s role developed with the growth of the business. He began to focus more on the project management and delivery side of engineering and took the opportunity to join our BD team in 2022.

Risto values the importance of growth and development that ACOR has for its employees, which allowed him to pursue his interest in the clients and project management space. The guidance and mentoring provided has helped him along this journey. Though he feels this is a big change, almost a change of career, he feels supported by ACOR at every stage of the transition.

ACOR’s national presence has meant that Risto can collaborate with a diverse range of people to bring a project to life. He feels that ACOR provides huge support to its people this way and enables him to build relationships with clients and project manage in an online space.

Risto originally wanted to be an electrical engineer when he was growing up so that he could design Lamborghinis, but during his studies he changed his pathway and finished with a mechanical degree instead. Outside of work, Risto enjoys riding his motorbike and often goes for long rides with his wife, or meets his friends for lunch on the coast.
